Cut from a Different Cloth

Gone are the days when a man's wardrobe consisted of two pairs of jeans and a few shirts in hues of blue, green, black and white. This is the dawn of the metrosexual man: extremely concerned about aesthetics and appearances and confident enough to pull off distinctive and stylish looks. The urbane man's style of dressing is epitomised in Gul Ahmed's collection for men designed by Mubashir Khan. These ensembles have a distinct feel to them with bold prints, bright colours and unique designs. Sunflowers grace one shirt, adding freshness, while psychedelic prints dance off another, bringing a sense of fun and adventure. The designs are also unique in their stitching with exaggerated collars and cuffs providing that little extra for the suave man. Stripes take on a life of their own as they are enhanced by bright collars and buttons while the fitting is kept short and narrow in accordance with fashion trends. Overall,
the collection is playful yet confident. It might not be everyone's
cup of tea, but is a clear attempt to add some life to men's fashion,
encouraging men to experiment with colours and designs. The shirts'
coupled with jeans and white cotton pants, herald the arrival of
a new man: one who is willing to take risks and look sexy while
doing it. |
