Haute
Line
True Blue
By Samina Ibrahim
Denim, thread and metal rivets. In
1873 two men, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis, fashioned these three
elements into the most popular garment in the world - Levi's jeans.
It is probably the only garment in existence that was created in
the nineteenth century and is still being worn today. Despite hundreds
of imitations, there's still something special about a pair of original
Levi's. By mid-June, Levi's will be opening 3 outlets in Karachi:
in Park Towers, Dolmen Mall and Hyderi, and one each in Lahore and
Rawalpindi. Initially Levi's will only be stocking their core men's
range, including the much coveted 501s and 506s as well as a range
of jackets. Their non-denim range will cover the more sophisticated
Dockers line of khakis, chinos, cargo-pants, knit-wear and cotton-check
shirts. Apart from the basic international ranges in both Levi's
ad Dockers, the stores will also stock seasonal styles and colours
as they hit the stores in the west.
