Imrana Ahmed of Body Focus showcases her custom-dyed and printed silk in a selection of saris and blouses, accentuated with either minimal detailing or studded with thousands of Swarovski crystals to create outstanding ensembles in her signature style.               

            Imrana’s design focus this winter is on saris and embroidered trousers and tops, rather than the shalwar kameez.  This collection stands out, both for the colour palette which is predominantly pastel, black and chocolate brown and for the shimmer, crystals teamed with intricate beadwork, traces of ‘dabka’ and silk embroidery.  Sheer fabrics like chiffon and pure silk are crafted to emphasise a feminine flowing silhouette.  The cuts are as always, simple, but sensual and demure fronts belie the daring low-cut backs.  An innovative addition is what Imrana calls the “Nutan” blouse inspired by subcontinental movies of the 1950s with its Chinese collar and side opening.
